In Afghanistan, the entrepreneurs and startup community is slowly getting larger, stronger and much more open to get involved, A great example of that is Startup Grind Afghanistan.
Here the term startup and entrepreneurship are new and events such as Startup Grind Kabul is also kind of unknown to most of the Afghans. However, in last two years, a lot has changed. For the first time in Afghanistan, Founder Institute Kabul Chapter Launched in 2014, First Startup Weekend Kabul Event and Now First Startup Grind Kabul Event in 2016 is game-changing for Afghanistan’s startup ecosystem.
What is Startup Grind:
Startup Grind is a global startup community founded in 2010 by Derek Anderson and Spencer Nielsen. Startup Grind aims to educate, inspire, and connect entrepreneurs via events featuring successful local founders, innovators, educators, and investors who share personal stories and lessons learned on the road to building great companies. It is powered by Google for Entrepreneurs. Startup Grind hosts monthly events in more than 200 cities and 85 countries.
Startup Grind Kabul hosts top CEOs and Entrepreneurs of Afghanistan who have managed to start and grow successful companies and have helped a number of businesses to start and grow.
Startup Grind events format is that an interviewer sits down, one on one, and gets a successful entrepreneur to tell his personal story, thoughts and experiences with you and respond to your questions which I think is both intimate and authentic.
So far the Startup Grind Kabul hosted great entrepreneurs and personalities However these events had its problems too, such as low sound recording system you will notice very noisy recorded sound in the interview video and I hope that my good friend Mr. Ahmad Fahim Didar improves his English Pronunciation skills.
In some of those events which I had the pleasure to attend, I like the event and overall I salute Startup Grind Kabul team for their hard work and contribution to Afghanistan’s startup ecosystem.
As an entrepreneur, Startup Grind Kabul allows us to learn from some of the brightest minds while networking with entrepreneurs at every stage of their businesses.
It is not just a conference, Startup Grind is a community, I promised myself to be a regular attendee for years to come and If you haven’t attended a Startup Grind Event yet, do yourself a favor and attend the next Startup Grind event in Kabul or wherever you are, you will find lots of like-minded people.
